New York Jews

There's plastic over the painting, so it's hard to capture an image without a bit of glare...
I painted this in high school, when Mrs. Williams had us do a project in ink to focus on reflection on shiny objects (metal, glass). I didn't want to paint a picture of the sink, so I found this image from a National Geographic.

Paige.

This isn't really Paige, but I painted it whilst out in the Arboretum with her, so it sort of is her...

Delilah

I painted this summer of either '07 or '08. Listening to
this song, I found the name for the painting (look closely at her hands for the clue). I was trying to color theme it (I usually tend toward lots of bright colors, perhaps, as my friend Paige suggested, a result of being slightly colorblind), and the background was meant to be a bit after Klimt. The picture I based her on is of my friend Charlotte.
I remember after truly listening to the song, that I went back and re-read the Samson story, to see if there were any room between the lines for Delilah to have been a misguided and foolish but otherwise sweet lover. There wasn't.

Necklace (for Christine)

This is the necklace I made for my friend Christine's birthday.

I recently bought jewelry-making items, and have been enjoying them immensely. For this, I just wanted something simple and classy, but I have been trying out some more funky ideas. And using lots of seashells and bits of coral from the beach...

This pendant was a single earring that my roommate found when cleaning up our campsite at the Wild Goose Festival. She brought it home, thinking it might be mine. It was originally more silver, with just a wee patch of blackened stuff. I took black nail polish to it, putting on the polish, and then wiping it with a wad of toilet paper, to try and get that antiquey sort of look.
If you want to commission me to make jewelry....well....you should. (:

Eva Sun Goes Slow

I've long been interested in Native Americans, and the parts of history that most people are more comfortable romanticizing or ignoring. I bought this book full of beautiful pictures, many of them portraits like this, because it was too beautiful to leave (and on decent sale). This is Eva Sun Goes Slow, a Crow.

("North American Indian Portraits", Thomas W. Kavanagh, pp 77)

This is the song that, as far as I can remember, has played a large role in my thought process over the years regarding the way our lives regard the past and present.

Jane Goodall

A sketchasaurus from National Geographic of Jane Goodall and David Greybeard. I think it was the first time she groomed one of the gorillas, or something awesomely breakthroughesque like that. Also from last December.

Smoker

Based on a picture off deviantart; "Jeka", by stefa zozokovich. Drawn last December at some point.

bienvenidos.

I don't know that I'm advanced enough to have a website of my own, so I'm going to use this space to focus on artwork. My roommate has a scanner, so as soon as I start getting decent quality digital images of things, it's going to be awesome!
